DICE offers up some Bad Company 2 PC beta details.

Just as we recently reported, the for ’s will begin January 25th, before coming to a close on February 28th. In a post over on the official Battlefield blog, Gordon Van Dyke explains just what the beta contains, and what you’ll have to do to get in.

The beta will feature the map Port Valdez, a snowy environment set alongside the industrial landscape of the Alaskan mountains. 32 players will be able to battle it out using Main Battle Tanks, Quad Bikes or Mobile AA among others. The map is described as a vehicle focused battle with plenty of infantry combat.

To gain entry, players must pre-order the game at selected retailers or online distributors and while no definitive list is given, DICE are in the process of finalizing the list, with another blog post detailing those available closer to release. The first two confirmed are the EA Store and Gamestop.com, though participation is up to the retailers so we’d expect keys to be popping up everywhere. A Steam release is also mentioned, though plans are not concrete at the moment and thus no final decision has been made.

DICE also confirms the use of PunkBuster for the games anti-cheat as well as the lack of mod tools, though server side control options will be available for dedicated servers.
