Following independent rumours that Hulu would be making it’s way to both HD consoles, the company has finally come out and spilled the beans: ‘Hulu Plus’ will be launching on Playstation 3 “soon” (July, according to the guided tour) and in “early 2011″ for the Xbox 360. Of course, it’ll be hitting a number of other platforms at the same time, such as the iPad and iPhone.
For a monthly subscribtion of $9.99 (the same as Netflix), users gain access to “over 120 seasons and 2,000 episodes of rich library content” of television shows such as The Office, Family Guy, Modern Family, House, Glee, Grey’s Anatomy, 30 Rock, 24, FlashForward, Lie To Me, Dollhouse and more. There’s plenty of older shows on offer too, including Arrested Development, The X-Files, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Quantum Leap, Ugly Betty, Legend of the Seekers, as just the tip of the iceberg. View an expanded selection here.
One immediate question jumps out, though. Why do 360 owners have to wait until “early 2011?” Officially, Microsoft say “they’re working hard on creating customized experience for Xbox LIVE members” but silver Xbox LIVE users will be left dismayed, as the service will only be available for gold subscribers.
