Call of Duty: Black Ops PC getting mod tools post release.

Modern Warfare 2 caused quite the furore when it decided to drop dedicated servers for the games PC version. Many saw the additional decision to withhold mod tools for the game something akin to salt in the wound.

Treyarch have decided otherwise, though. Not only will Black Ops use dedicated servers for it’s multiplayer, but the developer has confirmed (via their message boards) that mod tools will be released sometime after the game ships on November 9th.

There’s no hint of a potential date, and warn that the tools may not be as all encompassing as previous iterations.

“There are some purely technical issues related to engine and internal tool enhancements that do not easily fit the modtools paradigm.”
