Microsoft’s “Halo studio” 343 Industries are reportedly working on a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved ahead of a 2012 release of the next big Halo game.
At least, that’s according to Games Master magazine, which cites “industry chatter” in their article. According to the publication, the remake is being made on the engine which powered Halo: Reach and, Games Master speculates, could launch in November 2011 to coincide with Halo’s tenth anniversary.
This latest rumour contradict’s comments made last month by Microsoft Game Studios Corporate Vice President Phil Spencer, who said:
“I’m going to think about it from the customer’s perspective, and are we really delivering something of value to the customer at a price that they want?
“We obviously have a lot of new things going on, so the thought of re-doing a bunch of things is probably difficult to just weave into the overall portfolio.
“If you can provide real value to the customer, there could be possibilities for that, but I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about it.”
