PS3 reaches 50 million shipped, Move at 8 million.

Sony has announced that the Playstation 3 has reached 50 million consoles shipped as of March 29th. Playstation Move has reached 8 million shipped.

Both figures refer to “sell-in”, meaning units sold to retailers (online or otherwise), rather than sold to shoppers.

Last we heard, back on April 1st, the had sold 43.4 million consoles to consumers, slightly ahead of the Xbox 360 which has managed 42.9 million worldwide. Kinect, however, vastly out sold ’s Move, racking up an impressive 10 million units sold between November 2010 and January 2011.

Sony also mentioned that, as of March 20th, the Playstation Network reached 75 million registered users.
