E3 2011: Sony announces Playstation branded 3DTV, cheaper glasses.

One of the biggest surprises out of ’s E3 conference was the announcement of a Playstation branded 24″ 3DTV, along with some Playstation branded glasses.

Aimed at lowering the barrier to entry, the display is 24 inches and has some snazzy technology inside that produces two separate images for two different players instead of traditional split screen. Don’t worry, it took me a while to get my head around that too.

Sony also announced some swanky 3D glasses which will retail for $69.99, offering a much cheaper alternative for families.

Best of all, there’s a bundle. For $499, you’ll get the Playstation 3DTV, a set of glasses, a six-foot HDMI cable, and a copy of Resistance 3. Everything is due out this Autumn, but there’s no mention of regions other than the U.S.
