Square Enix is suing 15 Italians it believes are responsible for the leak of a preview build of Deus Ex: Human Revolution earlier this year.
The group are accused of logging into a “protected internet portal” which was used to host a preview build for press.
Using access information gained from Italian games magazine GMC, they then copied the code and distributed it worldwide on torrent sites. According to the filing, this was done without the permission or knowledge of the GMC reviewer who had access to the preview, and came from an I.P address not associated with the Italian magazine.
Square Enix are claiming copyright infringement and cite damages in excess of $5,000.
