Sony Pictures securing Assassin’s Creed movie rights.

Assassin's Creed movie Pictures are reportedly close to a deal with games publisher Ubisoft for the rights to a movie based on their Assassin’s Creed games.

According to Variety, something of a bidding war took place, with Universal and Sony among the studios vying for the IP. Sony have come out victorious, and look to be close to sealing the deal.

Part of the deal (said to be one of the main sticking points) was that Ubisoft’s recently formed motion picture studio would be able to keep “creative control” over the production. Hopefully they’ll be able to keep it from being horrendous.

Assassin’s Creed joins Uncharted and inFamous on Sony’s movie production slate, along with Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon on the Ubisoft side.
