TF2 item creators earn over $2 million, Valve speeds up the process.

TF2 Manniversary item makers have earned over $2 million selling their digital creations, has announced.

The milestone marks the 1 year anniversary of the scheme, which allows users to create items for the game – such as hats and weapons – and sell them to players via the in-game store. Valve and the creator both split the money generated.

“The ‘Mann Co. Store’ represents an important new direction for games and game makers,” said Valve boss Gabe Newell.

“By leveraging and extending the platform features of , Team Fortress 2 has enabled a viable marketplace for independent content creators and significantly extended the gameplay experience in an incredibly short amount of time.”

To mark the occasion, Valve has launched the Steam Workshop, an improved submission system that allows creators to upload entries easily, and receive feedback from Valve quicker. Valve have also added 30 new hats and cosmetic designs in the sizeable update, decals, a “try before you buy” system, loadout presets and improved game performance.

Oh, and there’s a picture of Saxton Hale as a baby.
