Activision’s latest earnings report is in, and the biggest news is Diablo 3′s new release date. That’s certainly not all the news, though.
Skylanders has proved a massive hit for the firm, with 20 million (!) toys sold since launch. Modern Warfare 3 continues to be a pretty big deal, too, and Activision confirmed that there’d be new Skylanders and Call of Duty games in 2012.
Here’s the best of the rest.
World of Warcraft’s subscriber base is now 10.2 million (31/12/11), down 100k since the last report, and 1.8 million for the year. As Activision notes, though, that’s pretty good news, seeing as their biggest competition since launch released during December.
Call of Duty: Elite has 7 million users, 1.5 million of which pay a subscription fee. It’s “one of the fastest growing online services in history,” ranking behind Xbox Live and World of Warcraft.
Call of Duty: Elite 2.0 is coming with the next Call of Duty game. It’ll have “several new features” to work “hand-in-hand” with the next game.
40 million users played a Call of Duty game in December 2011 (across the last 5 titles).
There’s a press event for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria next month, fans can expect new info then.
Blizzard will have “multiple product launches” in 2012, no games were specified.
Activision will “continue to invest” in Bungie’s new universe. It’ll be “one of publishing’s next big games,” “a genre-defining new IP” and a “key strategic growth pillar for the future.”
All in all, Activision generated $1 billion dollars in operating cash flow throughout 2011.
